LILO & STITCH

Lilo & Stitch Sydney Premiere 2025 — A Night of Ohana, Colour & Pure Disney Magic

Sydney lit up for the 2025 live-action Lilo & Stitch premiere a night that felt like stepping straight into a pocket of Hawaiian sunshine, right in the middle of Hoyts EQ. Disney knows how to turn a film launch into an experience, and this premiere was all about celebrating story, culture and community.

The blue carpet at Hoyts EQ was buzzing island prints, bold colour, live performances and a crowd that arrived already smiling. Families, performers, industry folk and fans filled the space with excitement, creating that unmistakable “ohana” feeling before the film even began.

Inside the cinema, the movie delivered everything audiences were hoping for: warmth, humour, and a fresh, heartfelt retelling of a beloved classic.

Front and centre is Maia Kealoha, absolutely magnetic as Lilo playful, spirited, and so easy to love. Sydney Elizabeth Agudong brings emotional depth as Nani, capturing the strength, frustration and fierce love that defines their sisterhood. Add in a lively ensemble including Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance, Tia Carrere, and Hannah Waddingham  and the story unfolds with charm at every turn.

And then there’s Stitch wonderfully realised in live action, full of mischief and tenderness. Every scene with him lands with that perfect mix of chaos and heart the original film is known for.

The film honours everything fans cherish: Hawaiian spirit, the meaning of family, the humour, the softness, the wild energy of alien-meets-earth adventure all wrapped in a modern, vibrant package. Watching it with a full cinema at Hoyts EQ made the experience even more special.

The premiere event itself was a standout colourful, joyful, and sprinkled with that signature Disney magic. Themed moments, tropical music, warm atmosphere it felt like Sydney was invited into its own mini-Hawaii for the night.

A beautiful film. A beautiful premiere. And a beautiful reminder that “ohana means family” and family means no one gets left behind.
