Japan is famous for ramen, and no one does it like ICHIRAN. Come hungry and leave happy when you visit any of their locations, including Kyoto, Tokyo and Osaka.
The difference with these guys is they are specialists of tonkotsu (pork-bone broth) ramen. They also make their own flour-based noodles.
When you enter, your first stop is to get a ticket from the vending machine. Basically, you choose if you want to add extra pork, an egg (we do!), or refreshments like Asahi beer or tea.

In most locations you sit in your own small booth. You can collapse the little dividers if you’re with friends and most locations also have water on tap. Once seated, you fill out a checklist where you get to customise the ramen exactly how you like it. Want a richer broth or softer noodles, no problem. Want it spicy enough to make you cry (or not), go for it. This is key!
You hand over your instructions and tickets, and a few minutes later you’re given your warm bowl of love. At any time you can order kae-dama (extra noodles), which is usually a necessity.
While lots of places do ramen, the flavour of Ichiran is unforgettable. So much so that you can purchase Ichiran kits anywhere in the world to make it at home.
