STAY IN OSAKA AT THE W HOTEL

It truly is a rarity to find a hotel that is hip, chic and modern – yet at the same time equally comfortable, indulgent and inviting.

Put simply, the W Osaka is the hotel of our dreams.

On our recent trip to Japan, we stayed at the W Osaka for the first time and immediately fell in love. A tall presence in the Osaka skyline, the minimal black facade conceals the bold colour and luxurious interior that awaits you inside. We were swept away by the hotel’s ability to seamlessly combine cutting edge with comfort.

We’ve visited Osaka several times in the past, and know the importance of a good location. At the W, we were right where we wanted to be. Just steps from the big name luxury shopping brands and just around the corner from the electric Dotonbori and the vibrant and bustling atmosphere of Shinsaibashi. You can get anywhere within a matter of minutes, from upscale shopping, trendy boutiques, and delicious street food.

We stayed in a “Spectacular Corner King Room” – and the name really said it all.

This was a truly stunning, 42sqm room – huge by Japanese standards – with the most spectacular view of the city. From the moment you walk in the front door and the automatic curtains parted to reveal this view, it literally took our breath away every time.

The larger-than-expected walk in closet meant we could fully unpack our clothes upon arrival, with lots of hanging space and shelving – plus there was space to store all our luggage out of sight. Incredible!

The style and furnishings of the room were modern and chic. A super comfy king bed, a large leather couch and additional single lounge chair ensured there was lots of space to relax.

The bathroom was sleek and sexy, with a separate deep soaking bathtub and extra large rain shower. The huge floor to ceiling window offered another captivating view of the city.

A seperate room for the toilet, and yes it was the world renowned Japanese Toto toilet. It warms your seat, keeps the room smelling fresh, washes and dries you once you’re all finished. You’ll never want to go back to a regular toilet again!

Elsewhere the room offers all the amenities you could hope for – huge flatscreen TV, mini fridge, coffee and tea maker, complimentary wifi internet, and gorgeous robes and slippers which we loved lounging around in.

There was a fantastic selection of alcoholic drinks in the “MixBar” counter, and a collection of complimentary cans of W Hotel branded mineral water were delivered to the room each day. These came in handy both while relaxing in the room, but also to take with us when we ventured into the city.

We made use of the hotel’s restaurant for breakfast every morning – and this was an experience unto itself! The staff greeted us in the super trendy ‘OH.LALA…’ restaurant, guided us to a table and took our coffee order.

The hotel offers both an expansive American and Japanese breakfast menu. There are countless a la carte dishes and breakfast favourites on offer, so you can mix and match as you please.

We devoured the signature Eggs Benedict, prepared by a chef. One of us opted for a serving without smoked salmon, which the chef happily whipped up before our eyes. But then we also enjoyed Japanese dishes – like the iconic Osaka specialty Takoyaki and some delicious steamed dim sims.

There was a seperate cold room with fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals and muesli. An incredible array of pastries, donuts, croissants, danish, waffles, pancakes… we couldn’t believe our eyes.

There was also delicious juices and green smoothie to help you feel refreshed and rejuvenated. This was truly the ultimate way to start each day in Osaka.

Elsewhere in the hotel we made use of the fitness centre, which had a great selection of treadmills, bikes, elliptical and rowing machines, plus a seperate yoga room.

The pool area was absolutely stunning and we put it to good use. For example, the day we spent at Universal Studios was particularly warm so we loved returning to the W in the afternoon to cool off in the pool. There are large changing rooms with fresh towels, and a steam room.

W Osaka delivered on every level and we absolutely hated having to leave. We cannot wait to return, and in the meantime have recommended it to many friends who wish to visit Osaka.

It feels so nice to know that when we recommend the W Osaka, that not only is it a spectacular hotel we are recommending, but one where the culture is inclusive to everyone. To read more about W Osaka’s support of the LGBTQ community click here.
