During one of our many trips to Japan we visited Kyoto. If you’re unfamiliar, Kyoto is a city filled with true masterpieces of religious architecture. Their 2000 temples and shrines include the Kinkaku-ji (the famed Golden Pavilion) and the iconic Torii Gates, which mark a shrine entrance at Fushimi Inari. Sites like these are reminders that Kyoto remains the spiritual heart of Japan.
Whilst visiting Kyoto we wanted to stay somewhere central to the train station for quick access to transport. This would make it easy to fit as much as possible into our days. We came across Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto in our searches and were not only blown away by the location but by the hotel facilities, which were incredible.
The indoor pool, jacuzzi and fitness centre were stunning. The Hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to the station (handy if you have excess baggage!) and free parking (great if you had a hire car), making it a perfect base for exploring the ancient capital.
Japanese hotels tend to have limited space resulting in a smaller room, but not here. We were amazed at what a generous size the rooms were, and filled with all the necessary ammenities – flat screen TV, free wifi, and quality toiletries.
There was even a wide variety of bars and restaurants within the hotel. We were lucky enough to be treated to a traditional Japanese dinner, where we got to try local delicacies and incredible saké.
Rihga Royal left a great impression and we will be back!
